He's healthy now and so is Tony Romo, which makes a bounceback season highly probable. The two were dominant together early last season. Austin is our No. 8 fantasy wide receiver.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Austin practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday. We don't usually like to see late-week downgrades like this, but the Cowboys may have scaled back Austin's reps in order to make sure he's 100 percent against the 49ers. Especially with Dez Bryant (thigh) questionable, Austin is going to have a very big role.

Sources tell ESPN Dallas that Austin is "not expected to play" in Week 3 against the Redskins, and the Cowboys want to make sure the lingering hamstring strain heals before bringing him back. Per ESPN's report, "it is possible" Austin could play in Week 4 (October 2 against the Lions), but more likely to the Cowboys hold him out through the bye. Austin's absence is likely to translate to more targets for both Jason Witten and Dez Bryant.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Austin did not practice Wednesday and has essentially been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Lions. He'll use the Week 5 bye to get back in game shape and is then expected to be a full go come Week 6. Austin had 14 catches for 233 yards and four touchdowns in two games before pulling up lame.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Laurent Robinson will make his third straight start opposite Dez Bryant. Austin was never likely to return after failing to practice this week. Originally given a 2-4 week recovery timetable, Austin will be four weeks removed from injuring his hamstring when the Cowboys take on the Cardinals in Week 13. If he's able to return to practice next Wednesday, he should be on track to play.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Although owner/GM Jerry Jones expressed optimism regarding Austin on Tuesday, it's still a fluid situation. With Laurent Robinson playing so well, the Cowboys can afford to err on the side of caution. Look for Austin to test the hamstring at some point on Thursday or Friday before a decision is made on his status.
